I acknowledge the palawa elders of nipaluna/Hobart and lutruwita/Tasmania, the pallanganmiddang elders of waywurru/NE Victoria and pitjantjatjara elders of uluru as the traditional custodians and teachers in these 3 regions of country/Australia that are most dear to my heart.

I am Adele and I walk on country. Whenever I go walkabout in the bush or the desert, I introduce myself to the elders’ spirits and express my heart-felt gratitude for their presence and ask for their permission and protection.

I give thanks to all elders’ spirits, all elders currently living, and all elders not yet come into their own or not yet born.
I give thanks for their timeless work towards balance and harmony in this one world of ours.

My home is the Earth. I was born in England and have lived in many places in Australia — Victoria, uluru, Hobart, Brisbane, Sydney — and in Vancouver, Canada, and currently, I live in nipaluna/Hobart, Tasmania. I have travelled around the world. I have seen that all people everywhere suffer from the same pain and feel the same love and have the same need for belonging.

May we all feel the oneness of being children of Earth, nothing more, nothing less.

May we all feel a sense of community and belonging regardless of where we were born.

May all people learn from the wisdom of those who walk and sit on country.

May we create together a better place for those who come after.
